Our lecture event on April 12th was a resounding success. With three speakers and a wonderful lunch provided by our caterer, “Reblaus Catering” from Wurzen, we were able to delight over 170 attendees on the day.
The topics covered a wide spectrum: from a presentation on the Audi 920—the most modern vehicles produced by Auto Union—and their restoration at *Zündmagnet Wurzen* (presented by Matthias Hühn); to the history of automobile manufacturing in Eisenach—from DIXI to BMW—presented by the renowned expert Matthias Doth (former Managing Director of *Automobile Welt Eisenach*); and finally, “Operation Zündspule”—a lecture detailing how the so-called “state organs” of the GDR tracked down automobiles belonging to “refugees from the Republic” via foreign embassies abroad, repatriated them, and subsequently sold—or attempted to sell—them for the benefit of the state treasury (presented by Dr. Mahlke).
